Hi,
welcome to my site. This was me in 2004 on my birthday (I'll try to
get a newer picture soon). I was
in Disney World with some friends. This picture was taken on the
monorail on the way from the Contemporary to the theme parks.. |
I have been using
the computer to communicate with others since the late 80's. Before
the Internet was as big as it is today, I was using
BBS's for
ages. I was on the real Internet starting in about 1993.
Having been on the Internet so long, I must have found something I like
right? The answer is a definite yes, if you know what you are doing,
the Internet is a wonderful source of good information and entertainment; if
you are a newbie, it can be a wonderful source of bad information. One
thing that I certainly hate about the Internet is spam, scams and Urban
Legends that get forwarded around in emails.
Snopes.com is a great source for helping to
determine which emails are true and which aren't....but I digress. The
real reason for this section is that I recently was contacted as part of a
well-known Internet scam THAT I WILL NOT FALL FOR. In the spirit of
the great P-P-P-Powerbook, I
will post what is happening as it goes. See the saga of me
selling my beloved 350-Z... |

I went to the
University of Maryland at College Park (Go
Terrapins) for my Bachelor's Degree. I have my BA in BS (Philosophy).
I am currently going to University of Maryland
University College for a Masters Degree in Information Technology.
I figured I would put some of the various
projects I've done over the years online just in case anyone is
interested (which is very doubtful, but who knows). |

Artists Conception of ST5 in orbit
I was part of the team that implemented and designed the Space Technology 5
(ST5) satellite. I work at a NASA installation, Goddard Space Flight
Center in Greenbelt, MD. ST5 was a technology validation mission; we
were attempting to test and prove new technologies. This was a three satellite constellation.
We successfully met all of our objectives within the planned 3 month life
time and the mission was closed. |

Artists Conception of RXTE in orbit
My other position is the Lead Engineer for the Rossi X-Ray Timing
Explorer spacecraft for NASA. RXTE looks for X-ray emissions in space,
these are indicative of black holes and neutron stars. This satellite
was launched in 1995.. |
I am a geek and proud of it. I love to write
Perl code, and play around with
Linux/UNIX.

I
love the outdoors. Camping, hiking,
geocaching, campfires, etc... Check out some of my pictures and stuff. |

Artists conception of ERBS in orbit
I used to be part of the team that flies the Earth Radiation Budget
Satellite. If you heard or read anything in the news about global
warming or holes in the ozone layer, the data probably came from
ERBS.
ERBS was launched in 1984, it was the first satellite launched from within
the Space Shuttle. Sally Ride launched ERBS from the space shuttle
Challenger. This satellite was designed for an operational lifetime of
3 years; it is still flying today, although with significant onboard
failures. Unlike a car, the satellite does not get regular tune-ups
and oil changes etc... |

.45 caliber 1911-A1 pistol
I collect guns; I love to go to the firing range and shoot targets.
I have a pretty large collection, but I am a responsible gun owner, they are
all locked in a safe that is bolted to the wall. Just don't surprise
me late at night. |
I'm a dork that actually likes
those online tests that are supposed to tell you something about
yourself. Results here. |

.Curly
I had pet rats. This picture is Curly. Check
them out! Their names are Larry, Moe and Curly!
Unfortunately as of 04/15/05 Moe is no longer with us. Unfortunately
all 3 of them have now passed and my wife was freaked out by them, so no
more rats.
